Who We Are
Our History
Through You I Am Community Connection is a labor of love, born from the founder and her husband's journey of resilience and a deep commitment to uplifting the African American community. As a Houma Native American and Italian descent woman who grew up in foster care, primarily in African American homes,Amanda Brettillo faced her share of challenges. But it was within the African American community that Amanda found strength, love, and support.
Amanda's husband, who also grew up in an impoverished Black community in North Carolina, has been a constant source of support and understanding. Together, they have created programs that aim to empower and uplift marginalized communities, drawing on their unique perspectives and experiences. Through You I Am Community Connection is a testament to the power of resilience, love, and community.
Amanda founded Through You I Am Community Connection to bridge the gaps in services and opportunities for African Americans in Western North Carolina and surrounding areas. With a comprehensive range of programs, TYIACC aims to empower individuals and families, foster a culture of self-sufficiency, and promote holistic wellness.
While TYIACC is new, it's vision is rooted in the belief that every individual deserves access to resources, support, and a chance to thrive. TYIACC looks forward to partnering with the community, local organizations, and supporters to write the next chapters of our history and create a brighter future for all.

Who is TYIACC?
The Through You I am Community Connection (TYIACC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bridging the gap in services for African American communities in Western North Carolina and surrounding areas. Our mission is to empower individuals and families through access to tailored resources, programs, peer support, and life coaching services, focusing on education, housing, and employment opportunities. We aim to create a sustainable and impactful organization that addresses the disparities and obstacles faced by the African American community, fostering a brighter future for all .

Our mission is to bridge the gaps that marginalize and oppress, to empower the voices that whisper 'I can't,' and to illuminate the path to a brighter future. We stand for equity, justice, and compassion, and we will tirelessly work to create a world where every person can live their truth, unfettered by systemic barriers and biases. WHY THE NEED FOR TYIACC?
Through You I am Community Connection (TYIACC) is a response to the pressing need for targeted resources and support in the African American community of Western North Carolina and surrounding areas. Our mission is to bridge the gaps in education, housing, and employment opportunities, which disproportionately affect this community. Recognizing that these disparities extend beyond county lines, we aim to serve as a beacon of hope and empowerment for African Americans in a broader region encompassing Buncombe, Henderson, Transylvania, Madison, Guilford, Wayne, and Lenoir counties. Our ultimate goal is to help create a more equitable and inclusive society where every individual has access to the opportunities and resources they need to thrive. Through partnerships, resource development, and community engagement, we strive to ignite positive change that resonates across the region, from Greensboro to Raleigh, Goldsboro to Kinston, and beyond
